Since joining CRAVE Denver in September 2013, I've experienced tremendous growth not only in my business, but in my personal life as well.
Launched in Seattle and in 25+ markets across the U.S., Canada and Europe, CRAVE is a unique community for women that connects business owners, consumers and extraordinary people together in various ways.
I love all the different components to CRAVE. For business owners, it's an amazing opportunity for PR, marketing and partnerships (two-page spread in the CRAVE book and e-book, online profile, social media exposure, exclusive Facebook groups, and more).
For women with an entrepreneurial spirit, it's the perfect avenue to move their careers, projects and lives forward. And the events? Ah! There is ALWAYS something happening.
When I approached Crave Founder Melody Biringer with the desire to get women telling raw stories and addressing topics like "competition between women," I had no idea that CRAVEfuel events were already happening in a handful of cities. These events, focusing on a different juicy topic each month, feature speakers, breakout sessions, wine and snacks. November's topic was "Friendship," so when Melody asked me if I wanted to bring CRAVEfuel to Denver, I was IN! And for the last three months, it's been a BLAST curating these gatherings and co-hosting with Mia Voss!
The best part about CRAVEfuel? Each month is a little different. While the format will always focus on meaningful connections, opening our golden Rolodexes and getting inspired, the location, speakers, attendees and activities will always vary. Below are recaps from each workshop so far!
CRAVEfuel November: Balancing Friendships
CRAVEfuel December: Confidence
CRAVEfuel January: Visions
SO grateful for the CRAVEfuel sponsors that treat us every time: House Wine, Chocolate Shop Wine, popchips, Luna Bars and Dry Soda!
Dafna Michaelson Jenet, co-founder and president of The Journey Institute, led the charge for January's CRAVEfuel. This woman is a fire-starter and a leader and her personal mission statement says it all: "My commitment to you is to be your champion, that cheerleader who works with you towards achievement of balance, leadership and clarity of vision to create launch-able plans of action. It is my goal to teach you, inspire you and support you by elevating and engaging you in your own story as you continue on your journey."
Not only did Dafna lead everyone through an inspiring exercise that landed us on keywords for vision boards and the year ahead, but her back stories were beyond moving. Read more about Dafna and her accomplishments.
Then, as always, everyone broke out into groups to workshop each other. The room was ignited yet again with everyone's energy and eagerness to share and connect.
HUGE thanks to Tran Wills and the ladies at Base Coat Modern Nail Salon x Gallery for hosting us in this incredible space. The mini manis were just LOVELY!
"I love CRAVEfuel because it's the most inspiring and empowering networking group I've found. It's a genuine place for women to share, network and grow with out any judgment." - Holly Northup
"Such a great time last night! Thank you for the dose of inspiration to get me through the week!" - Abby Sparks
"What an inspiring event...loved it!" - Jennifer Lynn
Katie Den Ouden is a food and soul expert/teacher/coach who has helped hundreds of women around the world to feed their bodies and souls and live a life they love. Fulfilling a need for more in-person workshops and group events, Katie opened KDO Studio in December, so it was only fitting that she lead us through an interactive workshop on confidence in her adorable new space.
We all partook in numerous exercises and group discussions and were sent home with super helpful handouts. At the top of one, read a great quote from Katie: "A woman who is truly alive and captivating is a woman who is in touch with her desires, what she values, and based on that knows exactly how to act, make her decisions, and stay in alignment with her true and joyful self. This is where you start to learn to trust yourself (i.e. confidence) because you know when to shift in order to stay in alignment with you."
"What a great evening! I was buzzing the rest of the night (from the excitement - not the wine!). I loved that this networking event was focused on a topic that was both useful and fun. Having things to think about and discuss with each other helped break the ice easily, and I left feeling like I had really made some connections." - Marianne Manthey
"Last night was fantastic—it was great to be surrounded by so many brilliant women!" - Liz Alley
Featured speakers for the evening (pictured above from left to right) included Danielle Marie Barbeau Cook and Christen Bakken (renowned local yoga teaching duo), Jess Lybeck (co-founder of Dabble), and Kristen Moeller (author, coach and speaker).
Danielle and Christen led us off with an adorable intro about their own friendship, followed by yoga-inspired partner and group exercises that focused on trust, leaning in and letting our guards down.
Then, Jess inspired the group with her tales about honesty and teamwork in friendship, while Kristen touched everyone with her raw stories about "friend breakups" and the power of perspective.
The second half of CRAVEfuel is where the real magic happens. Everyone splits into groups of 5-6 and workshops each other. So, each person voices whatever it is they need right now, whether it be a new website, hot date, babysitter, client referrals, friendship advice or just whatever it is they need. Then, others open up their golden Rolodexes, offer their support/wisdom or simply an ear. This networking concept is brilliant, especially for women.
The room was radiating from the ground up that night, and everyone was truly connecting. It was so powerful!
Big thanks to lululemon Cherry Creek for letting us kick off the first CRAVEfuel in this cozy yet welcoming space. The turnout was incredible, and the feedback had us all overflowing with gratitude:
